Everything you need to know about using Scholyn to support your homeschool journey. Can not find your answer? Reach out to us at hello@scholynlearning.com.
Start Exploring Your CommunityYes. Scholyn is completely free for families to join and use. There is no credit card required to create an account, no subscription fee to browse co-ops and educators, and no charge to post or RSVP to events. If you book a session with an educator, you pay the educator directly for their time — Scholyn does not take a cut from session payments.
Create a free account, then browse the Groups section. Filter by location, group size, meeting schedule, and homeschool philosophy to find a group that fits your family. When you find one you like, request to join — the group organizer will be notified and can approve your membership. Most groups are free to join.
Yes. Browse educator profiles to see their subject specialties, background, hourly rates, and availability windows. When you find an educator you want to work with, request a session through the platform. Payment is processed securely — funds are held until the session is complete and confirmed by both the educator and the parent.
Sign up for a free Scholyn account, then create an event from the Events section of the app. Add the event title, date and time, location, age range, cost (if any), and a description. Events are visible to homeschool families in your area who can RSVP directly. Events are free to post.
Yes. The Marketplace section lets you list textbooks, curricula, manipulatives, and other homeschool materials for sale or trade. Browse listings by subject, grade level, condition, and location. You post a listing for free; the buyer and seller coordinate directly.
Scholyn takes privacy seriously. Your email address is used only for account purposes and optional notifications — we do not sell your data or share it with third parties. Your profile is visible to other logged-in users so you can connect with families and educators. You can adjust your notification preferences and profile visibility at any time.
Go to your profile settings and switch to educator mode to create an educator profile. Add your subject specialties, background, availability, and rates. Once your profile is complete, families in your area can find you and request sessions. There is no cost to create an educator profile — and we do not charge any platform fee on sessions.
Scholyn is purpose-built for homeschool discovery — not general social networking. Every co-op, educator, and event has a dedicated profile with structured information: subject focus, age range, location, meeting schedule, availability. This makes search and filtering actually useful, instead of scrolling through a noisy news feed. And because everything is organized around structured profiles rather than posts, you can bookmark and track the groups and educators that matter to you.
